The chief objective of the purposed project is to study heat treatment process for metal components of turbocharger with  To study industrial stress relieving process for metal components (Shaft & Wheel assembly) ,  To study induction hardening process for metal components (Shaft & Wheel assembly),  Testing for strength, Hardness & hardening depth after stress relieve and induction hardening respectively. Research Work concludes-  Using Friction Welding dissimilar metal (inconel & Low Alloy Carbon Steel in present case) can be joined within in few seconds without any filler or shielding gasses.  Joint with forged quality can be obtained.  Stress introduced during friction welding, results in low value of tensile strength of weld joint than required.  For present case (Inconel 718 & Low Alloy Carbon Steel), Heat Treatment at about 5500c for 90 minutes is sufficient to retain the tensile strength > 350 N/mm2, acceptable for working of turbocharger.  Hardening by induction method impart hard surface to the component, whilst improving its fatigue strength.  Induction Hardening causes an increase in amount of martensite in steel.
