Implementing a Sustainable Theses and Dissertation Repository

Sustainability of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) repositories is not just about having a successful repository, but it is all about making sure that the successful repository is maintained and remains accessible as long as its content remains useful. This research investigated what is meant by implementing a sustainable ETDs repository. It established that sustainability encompasses a number of issues and concerns that together contribute to the longevity of ETDs repositories. Important and integral aspects of any ETDs repository’s sustainability should necessarily include digital preservation planning, policy documentation, infrastructural sustainability, continuous deposits, access and the utilization of the content of the repository.
