The fresh banana plant waste and its silage based diets were evaluated by in vitro and in vivo trials. Sole feeding of silage based diet to Osmanabadi goats appear to be below maintenance level but it was supplemented with concentrates results into above maintenance level. Fresh banana plant waste and its silage with little concentrate supplement supported for maintenance requirement, inclusion of red gram straw in the diet supported higher weight gain.Further, either silage consumption alone or as proportion of diet can be increased by incorporating more cereal grain powder as source of soluble carbohydrates and dry roughage as a moisture absorbant.
