Tōku haerenga - A transformation of Māori cloaks

Māori art is a vibrant and dynamic part of the Māori people that has undergone huge transformations since European arrival to New Zealand. They brought with them new materials and techniques that Māori quickly adopted and developed to put a unique spin on the world of Māori art. This book describes two new innovations to Māori weaving never seen before. Firstly, the combination of the European technique of loom weaving using traditional Māori weaving materials in the creation of a collection of unique cloaks. Secondly, the use of computer-aided loom weaving to produce the traditional tāniko (finger weaving) style of adornment.
