The book explores the use of the Weak represented by the young, the physically challenged, the orphans, the widows and their lot as vehicles of serious social issues. The collection of Bukusu oral narratives in this book is just but a representative sample of similar stories that may be found in many different cultures. These fascinating narratives juxtapose the Weak with the privileged or highly endowed members of the society where the former always display unusual characteristics that lead to their recognition and acceptance in the society that had hitherto ignored them. The question is why this reversal of roles?
