Heavy metal contamination of agricultural soils is a major environmental problem that can reduce both the productivity and the safety of plant products as food and feeds. Earlier studies have suggested that some hyperaccumulator essential aromatic and medicinal crops might be capable of accumulating heavy metal from contaminated soil. Addition of different dosages of elemental sulfur and compost effects on (a) soil pH (b) some heavy metals solubilization in polluted soils and (c) the growth, yield production and metal accumulation of some plants. Some aromatic crops can to be a suitable hyperaccumulator for soils contamination by heavy metals that could alleviate the potential for food chain transfer of toxic trace metal elements from metal contamination soils. Growing of essential oil crops on contaminated soils is certainly economically and environmentally feasible option. Aromatic crops may offer feasible alternative for mildly contaminated soils
