Heat exchangers are important heat transfer apparatus in thermal power plant, oil refining, chemical engineering, environmental protection, electric power generation etc. The present study is to develop and optimize shell and tube heat exchanger used to improve the energy efficiency of Shri Dudhganga Vedganga Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Bidri co generation power plant. The plant has 20MW capacity of power generation. The boiler capacity is 120TPH. In this project the design and optimization of shell and tube heat exchanger by theoretical (Bell Coleman Method) is done and CFD analysis is carried for three cases. One is for one full length tube, second is sectional tube and last sectional heat exchanger. In these three cases inlet water temperature is 300C and tube wall temperature is 1300C. At these three cases it is simulated using ANSYS CFD software, modelling is done using CATIA Design Modeller, CFD meshing is carried out using ICEM meshing platform. Simulation is carried out for the tube side part and tube wall, then finally all three results are compared.
