Ichthyofauna in Lakhimpur, Assam and detailed study of selected fishes

India is in ninth rank regarding mega freshwater biodiversity and the northeast region is recognized as a global hotspot of freshwater fishes. Documentation of fauna is yet to be completed in some of the inaccessible and unexplored ecosystems of India, especially in Assam. The present study includes documentation of fish fauna of Lakhimpur district, Assam, India and biology of two fish species Balitora brucei and Psilorhynchus balitora collected from Ranganadi river of Lakhimpur district of Assam, India. This book also includes the study of the adaptive modifications of some selected hill stream fishes and the barcoding of the fishes of the Ranganadi river.
