Advancement and Principle of Cam & Follower in Ring Spinning Machine

In this paper the different types of cam and cam follower which are used in the textile industries, especially in spinning department discussed in detail and the combinations of motions of cam and follower which are used in textile industries rotating cam and translating follower in ring spinning machines. The types of followers can be classified according to the surface in contact, the motion of the follower and the path of motion of the follower and Cams also can be classified as per the motion required whether osculating or translating. The basic motions of the follower, during its travel, may have one of the following motions simple harmonic motion (SHM), motion with uniform acceleration and deceleration and motion with uniform velocity and each motion is analyzed in detail. Materials used for cams and followers are different types of cast irons and steel are used for manufacturing. Heart shaped cam type is used to return a shaft holding the cam to a set position by pressure from a roller. In ring spinning machine, the heart shaped cam and roller follower is used for used for building the ring frame packages.
