Contamination of groundwater is a worldwide issue that has a substantial impact on human health and ecological services. Researchers exploring groundwater contamination in India contribute to this special issue, which focuses on contaminants in groundwater of geogenic and anthropogenic origin scattered across a wide geographic range. Contaminants, such as arsenic, fluoride, nitrate and other emerging contaminants, are a threat to human health, ecological services, and sustainable socioeconomic development. In this book, the state of the science on groundwater contamination is reviewed and some key issues for advancing research on groundwater contamination are proposed.
