The Ganges River dolphin Platanista gangetica also called Susu is one of the seven species of dolphins occurring in freshwater systems, and because of the intense anthropogenic activities carried out in this habitats; Dolphins are one of the most threatened species among all the cetaceans throughout the world. The species is listed as "Endangered" by the IUCN in the Red List of Threatened Species.
