Information coding has become one of the most relevant issues of today's technology related systems, on the one hand, due to the amount of information that is being produced at every moment, and on the other, because equal access to it by every person is an increasing demand requiring many fields that have fallen behind in terms of development, to be updated. One of the firsts topics to be considered is the access to physical and virtual environments by people with some kind of disability. Current approaches for exploiting the ability of the auditory system as a mean to transmit information, address this issue only to the point of using it as an auxiliary channel or restrict it to environments based on computer graphical interfaces, which limit the complete capability for conveying information about the surroundings. From a different perspective, the proposed system combines image processing tools with the models of the auditory system, and of the theory on sound information mapping, to explore the possibility of reproducing visual scenes by means of spatialized sounds.
