Segregation of recyclable wastes from general wastes is necessary for optimizing the resource recovery. Recyclable waste may originate from different places in different ways, including hospitals. These recyclable hospital wastes may be contaminated with several health hazards and must be pretreated before recycling for health concerns. This book is a survey of the current situations of hospital waste management and management issues in one of the developing countries. This book indicates the importance of involvement from the administrative levels of hospitals and government in introducing the appropriate policy of waste management for hospital wastes in order to minimize the health risk. In comparison of hospital waste management systems from other developed and developing countries, the system in the study area is weak in providing the appropriate hazard-awareness trainings for those involved in the waste stream. In this book, the author has introduced the basis of the solid waste and hospital waste management systems, management practices and recommended some adoptable solutions for issues based on findings through field survey and questionnaire interviews.
