Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is one of the fast growing mega cities in the world which account for about 34% of the total urban population. By 2015, Dhaka will be the 4th most populous city after Tokyo, Bombay and Lagos with an estimated population of 21.1 million. Like any other city in the developing world, Dhaka's housing faces formidable problem and it is becoming more critical day by day. By the year 2025, 1.81 million, 2.40 million and 0.24 million housing units will be required for the low, middle and high income groups of people respectively. In the year 2009 a total of 8840 housing units have been delivered by the real estate developers. Apart from this, real estate is a potential sector as it links other productive sectors.
