Mobile phones and the wireless Internet in Korea have been evolving rapidly over the last decade. Consequently interest in using them for learning English language, in particular listening skills, has been increasing among learners, teachers, researchers, and business people. However there have been few studies in Korea about the use of mobile phones for listening skills. The present research therefore investigates the potential of wireless application protocol (WAP) sites for listening skills in Korea. Language learners'' attitudes towards using a WAP site to this end are particularly examined. A WAP site design model effective for listening skills is proposed based on the investigation. The model would enhance comprehensible input, negotiation of meaning, and comprehensible output, as well as facilitating collaborative and student-centred learning, and developing motivation for learning a second/foreign language. This monograph should be especially useful to professionals in mobile-assisted language learning (MALL), or anyone else who may be considering utilising mobile phones for language teaching and learning.
