Environmental protection appeared worldwide during the twentieth century. In the United States the emergence of this concept is quite recent. The concern exists for a long time; however, actions to control environmental pollution or prevent environmental destruction took more time. While some people do not show any concern about the environment, others believe that preservation and conservation of the nature is the most important thing in all beings’ life on earth. This research reveals real problems concerning the environment. Then, it demonstrates the role played by the law and the place it occupies. It determines the impact of the law on environmental issues. It also demonstrates the involvement of the American people, and institutions into environmental protection. It finally shows how they welcome this field into their daily lives and habits. The example of the Commonwealth of Virginia is given through this work. Later, it develops a series of solutions and recommendations that may help make environmental problems and environmental law more interesting and understandable in the United States.
