Land in most agrarian economies in Africa is the main factor of production. Its appropriation therefore has been historically contested on ethnic grounds. The failure to address pre-colonial land holding rights has triggered inter-ethnic land conflicts in post-colonial Africa. Ethnic groups still re-group along ethnic identities against historical injustices that dispossessed them pre-colonial land holding rights. Land Dimension in Bukusu-Sabaot Inter-Ethnic Conflicts in Mount Elgon Area Since 1963 reconstructs an ethnic land tussle in the post-colonial dispensation. It explores institutional, non-institutional and governance land dimensions that have triggered Bukusu-Sabaot inter-ethnic conflicts since 1963. It also enacted inter-ethnic conflicts mitigation strategies involved and the socio-economic impact of the conflict to the area and region.
