This study explores moral philosophy, lifelong learning and Nigerian education by building a synergy around the three realities. It examines the educational policy on lifelong learning in Nigeria and judges it as not well conceptualised and implemented to deliver its objectives. For educational policy to become practicable and sustainable, there is need for considering moral principles of autonomy, social justice and beneficence. From the above moral foundation, lifelong learning invariably becomes the process of improving the total wellness of the community. Therefore, a humanistic philosophy for lifelong learning programmes in Nigeria and moral values such as honesty, truthfulness and trust are essential characteristics that should be developed to bring out the best in individuals that make up the human society. Lifelong learning programmes in Nigeria should promote communalistic living and effective citizenship.
