The refugee population, due to both pre-migration and post-migration factors, is likely to experience mental health problems and encounter other situations which make living difficult. Some of the problems faced by refugees in the developing countries include inadequate food, poor social infrastructures, unemployment and physical insecurity. Also, the prevalence of mental health problems among refugees is generally known to be relatively high. In West Africa, this situation is further worsened by the dearth of studies on the mental health status of refugees in the region. This book thus appraises the mental health and quality of life of adult refugees and non-refugees in Southwest Nigeria.
