New approaches to shorten treatment time without foregoing optimal result has become a primary goal in all areas of orthodontics. Two perplexing challenges have not been fully resolved in clinical orthodontics, that is, prolonged treatment time and iatrogenic root resorption. The combined effects of advanced mechanotherapy (SLB) with less friction along with constant retraction force delivery system using NiTi closed coil spring and the use of an adjunctive orthodontic procedure like corticotomy to augment tooth movement should definitely reduce treatment duration. Thus a study was carried out in two groups of patients consisting of five members each. The first group of patients were treated with Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics. They were strapped-up with Self-ligating Brackets and the retraction forces were delivered with NiTi closed coil springs. For the patients of Group B conventional orthodontics without performing any surgical intervention was carried out. The retraction forces were generated using active tie –backs. The time taken was noted and treatment changes for both the groups were assessed and analysed using steiners analysis.
