Contemplating serious consequences of increasing CO2 in atmosphere in future, worldwide efforts are made to develop low-cost and efficient technologies to transform non-conventional renewable energy sources, mainly solar into electricity. The solar energy is not available at all times and places and non-transportable also.To remove difficulties, alkaline water electrolysis cells will be used to transform electrical energy, produced from solar energy.Perovskite oxides are considered as promising electrocatalysts. They are low cost and used as anodes in water electrolysis cells for O2 evolution and as cathodes in fuel cells & metal air batteries for O2 reduction,as heterogeneous catalysts in catalytic converters(in automobiles) for oxidation of CO,unburnt hydrocarbons. This work is related to use of novel sol-gel derived oxides in electrocatalysis & expected to be much advantageous to produces crystalline nano size particle of oxide, which greatly enhanced surface area influence interfacial electrochemical and electrocatalytic properties of the perovskite oxide dramatically. This oxide is used specially for water electrolysis and fuel cells.
