Gender and conversational interaction is a book that examines the type of tag questions that are found in Shona (a language spoken in Zimbabwe) and establishes whether or not they are a gendered linguistic form. It uses ethnography of communication as a theoretical framework. The motivation for investigating whether or not Shona tag questions reflect gender difference between males and females is that early scholars on language and gender have classified them as a marker of gender differences. The book is hoped to be of use to students of language and gender.
