Women and Menopause: An Anthropological Study

Menopause is the last step of women’s life-cycle, which means the permanent cessation of women’s reproductive life. In this step, women go through different physical and psychological changes. It is the natural process of women’s life. But medical science has included it in medical term. This book shows that how medical science sees the period of menopause. Not only women’s body, but also their surroundings, like- family relationship, social relationship, conjugal relationship etc. changes a lot. As an experience of women’s life author focuses on these matters. Patriarchal structure has made some rules and regulation for women.The book explores the condition of women in patriarchal society during menopausal period. Again the book focuses on medicalization of women during menopause in one hand and on the other hand, social and psychological effect of menopause in the women’s life.
