School bullying is an important public health issue that affects the long-term well-being of school-aged children, which has recently become a major concern to students, parents, schools and social workers in Chinese communities. However, this phenomenon remains understudied. This book attempted to examine the prevalence, risk factors, and associated health consequences of bullying behaviors in a holistic approach in Chinese contexts. Two large school-based surveys were conducted in Mainland China and Hong Kong respectively. Not only traditional bullying but also cyberbullying were covered. Vulnerable groups in bullying victimization, such as left-behind children, migrant children, and LGBT adolescents, were identified and further explored. Finally, the findings of this book shed light on the process through which bullying victimization generates influence on depression, and provide empirical evidence for compassion and hope based bullying intervention.
