Collapse of the national value system has been a serious challenge facing Nigeria and the rest of the world. Though, Nigeria has been seriously affected in all ramifications be it in education, social, economic, cultural, political, etc. This has led to the unabated corruption, kidnapping, cultism amongst the youths, suicide, internet fraud, quick money syndrome, armed robbery and other social evils that have left the entire nation undeveloped. Other negative effects of the collapse of the value system are ethnic conflict, ineptitudeness, tribal suspicion and nepotism. This work philosophically reflected on these issues and as well proffer solutions to this effect. Functional education system is considered as the best option in solving most of these problems. Nigeria nation-state should build an educational system that is hinged on character formation, intellectual development and sound knowledge acquisition.
