Wh-movement is a phenomenon by which a wh-element is attracted to a Q with which it is coindexed. Therefore, the wh-element must move to COMP position that it ends up in.This book provides an in-depth account for the phenomenon of wh-movement in EkeGusii based on Chomsky’s Government and Binding theory (GB) which is a transformational approach in which wh-movement is described as a constituent movement. The book investigates wh-movement in EkeGusii, a Bantu language spoken in the Western part Kenya. It is established that EkeGusii forms wh-questions using three strategies, namely: full wh-movement, partial wh-movement, and intermediate strategy. Relative clauses in the language also exhibit wh-movement. More importantly, wh-movement is ex situ in EkeGusii, thus the wh-phrase moves to Spec, CP and bears a focus marker /na/ or /n/.
