This research examines racial discrimination from an intertextual perspective. It investigates different reasons substantiating this phenomenon in both the U.S. and South Africa in the twentieth century. Moreover, it argues that though the manifestations of racial discrimination are manifold, skin color interpretations and prejudice rank prominent. The study considers the negative as well as the positive impacts of racial discrimination on black characters. It discusses similarities and dissimilarities in the works under study. Clearly, the book offers a geographical study of racial discrimination in Alex La Guma and Richard Wright, on the one hand, and in Alice Walker and La Guma, on the other. Equally, the study concerns itself with a generational representation of racial discrimination in Wright and Walker’s works.
