Sweet potato is an herbaceous dicotyledonous plant with creeping, perennial vines and adventitious roots and belongs to the family Convolvulaceae and is one of the important tuber crops of tropical and subtropical regions of the World. It is a major source of carbohydrate for millions of people, especially in developing countries. Potassium is essential in nearly all processes needed to sustain plant growth and reproduction i.e. photosynthesis translocation of photosynthetic, protein synthesis, control of ionic balance, regulation of plant stomata, turgor maintenance, stress tolerance and water use, activation of plant enzymes and many other processes. Sweet potato plants respond positively to foliar application of zinc and produced maximum production of roots. It also helps in correcting zinc deficiency. Zn is an important component of enzymes that drive and increase the rate of many important metabolic reactions involved in crop growth and development. It is hoped that this readers shall find this book much useful for their studies and further research.
