The mitigation of the impact of HIV/AIDS on the education system is essential if a country is to attain the EFA and the MDGs. Education systems are already sagging with high enrolments, lack of teachers; inadequate resources for infrustracture and capacity development. The impact of HIV/AIDS in terms of teacher mobidity and motality; absentism; increased number of orphans and the added need of care and support is impacting negatively on access, retention, completion and transition rates as well as the quality of education. Current management practices on mitigation are not yielding the desired results as the statistics reveal. There is therefore need to adopt entrepreneurial practices that will see innovative, proactive and flexible approaches adopted to the mitigation effort. Since this approach is being used in a non-profit scenario, social entrepreneurship strategies are suggested in this book to enchance efficiency, committment and effectiveness to the mitigation processes. Policy makers, Teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector and beyond will therefore find this book an invaluable resource.
