The book is prepared for small, medium and large categories of farmers to study the gap between existing and balanced feeding schedule, feed-milk production relationship and least cost feeding schedule for milch cattle & buffaloes in Hisar and Karnal districts of Haryana state in India. The book concludes, the highest quantity of green fodder and concentrate were offered on large farms. While on small farms feeding of dry fodder was higher in both districts. Milk yield per milch animal was found higher on larger farms than smaller ones in both the districts. The optimum least cost feeding schedule for milch dairy animals was found profitable over existing feeding schedule in both districts. Thus farmers could reduce their feeding cost and maximize profit from dairy enterprise by the adoption of least cost feeding schedule and better management of their milch dairy animals. In case of feed-milk production relationship digestible crude protein (DCP), concentrate and green fodder were observed to have significant impact on milk yield in both districts.
