This study investigates the problems of translating marked collocations in the Glorious Qur'an. Four translations have been chosen for this purpose: The Meaning of the Glorious Coran (1970) by Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall, The Meaning of the Glorious Qur’an (1934) by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, The Koran (1947) by N.J.Dawood and The Qur’an: A New Translation (1999) by M.A.S. Abdel-Haleem. The study attempts to answer the following questions: (1) What are the problems that face Qur'an translators when they deal with marked collocations? (2) What are the main characteristics of marked Qur'anic collocations? (3) To what extent can the Qur'an translators keep the same degree of markedness in the TT? (4) What are the different strategies and approaches adopted by the translators to overcome the problems that face them when they deal with the four types of marked Qur'anic collocation? To answer these questions, a functional integrated model has been adopted. This model is based on three main pillars. These are the main features of markedness presented in chapter one, some tenets of Erenst-August Gutt's Translation Model of Relevance Theory, and Hasan Gazala's Model of Arabic collocation.
