A unique attempt was taken to understand the effect of seed priming and foliar nutrition on growth and productivity of black gram [Vigna mungo (l) hepper] in Gangetic Alluivial soils of West Bengal, India. Dry seed sowing was taken as control check among hydro and osmo-priming. Similarly water spray was choosen as control treatment among different foliar nutrition. Hydro-priming method gave the intermediate result as compare to other priming treatments. Osmo-priming (1% N:P:K-10:26:26 solution) produced the best result in terms of growth and yield. Among the different foliar nutrition, 2% N:P:K-20:20:20 solution spray (at floral initiation and 50% flowering stage) proved to be superior to the others in respect of growth and yield attributes along with grain yield and thus concluded that sowing of osmo-primed seed followed by foliar nutrition with plant nutrients has the potentiality to produce highest yield and thus productivity as compare to conventional method of cultivation by the farmers of West Bengal, India.
