The Call of the Green

Place-sense as an inherent impulse of American writing is a live issue in contemporary American Studies. The choice of works the author discusses is made to affirm that in different ways and degrees American writing has always reflected a sheer sense of belonging whose nature and significance have no resemblance in European literature. Henry David Thoreau's work provides the perspective of and the inspiration for this book. Coming out in 2017, the year of Thoreau's bicentennial, "The Call of the Green" celebrates Thoreau's life, work, and legacy.
