The General objective of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of health and safety programmes in the manufacturing industries with specific emphasis to plastic manufacturing industries. The Specific objectives were to investigate whether health and safety policies meet legal requirements; whether the organizations conduct safety training for its employees; to assess senior management’s commitment to health and safety issues and to establish whether the organization have safety and health committees. The target population of the study was the Plastic Manufacturing industries in Kenya. The study population was all (39) the plastic manufacturing industries in Nairobi. A sample of 69 respondents was drawn using simple random sampling method. Primary data was collected using a questionnaire. The questionnaire was pre-tested to ensure clarity and validity of the questions. Data was analyzed using descriptive and qualitative techniques such as liner regression and analysis of variance.
