Betrothal is one form of child marriage which allows parent to decide on their daughter’s husband. Betrothal and its resultant early girl-child marriage is a big obstacle to Konkomba girls in Nalogni obtaining a high HCF. This is because they are normally compelled to cut short their education to marry. Despite interventions by Action Aid Ghana (AAG), Catholic Relief Service (CRS) and World Vision Ghana (WVG) the practice of girl-child betrothal is still prevalent in Nalogni. The study examined why betrothal is prevalent among the Konkomba of Nalogni, and how it affects the Human Capital Formation of the Konkomba Girl-child.
