Collocations as a fascinating linguistic phenomenon reflect the linguistic, stylistic and cultural features of any languages. The importance of collocations, the syntactic and semantic patterns they follow in a language and in the translation of literary texts, the way(s)in which they are translated, would be the matter of investigation in this book. This book attempts to shed light on the nature of the differences in collocational patterning of Persian and English languages.Based on a careful content analysis of eleven Persian texts(nontranslated)and their translations(translated texts)from different genres and periods of time which were translated by the native bilingual English translators or official English authorities, the authors found that there was a significant difference between Persian and English collocational patterns. In Persian language, noun+adjective pattern is the most frequent one while in English texts, adjective+ noun and noun+noun are highly frequent patterns.Shifts in translation of Persian to English collocational patterns during the time is an interesting finding of this book.It shows that the more Persian language is known, the more accurate translation is available
