The Young Turk Movement and the Young Turk Era of Ottoman History

The Ottoman Empire had a long history (1299-1923) but the most interesting chapter is arguably the last one. This is the story of the Young Turks, the last masters of the Ottoman State, and how they brought democracy and secularism to an ancient and declining Islamic empire only to end up destroying both Ottoman democracy and the empire they set out to save on the bloody battlefields of World War I.
