DOMESTIC PETS AS BIOINDICATORS OF MINING-RELATED CONTAMINANTS

Domestic pets are excellent sentinel species and can be useful in bridging gaps between toxicity information from laboratory experiments and health effects in the human population. This research project investigates the impact of chronic exposure to mining-related contaminants in a residential environment at the Butte, Montana Superfund site. In addition, the biomonitoring method documents the efficacy of localized remediation efforts.
