This book examined the strategies used in developing library collections in the six colleges of education in Botswana located in Francistown, Lobatse, Molepolole, Serowe, Tlokweng and Tonota. The research objectives were to examine the perceptions of Botswana colleges of education librarians on collection development; identify the strategies being used for collection development in the libraries and determine the effectiveness of the strategies; establish the availability, adequacy and effectiveness of collection development policies in the libraries; determine the adequacy and effective allocation of collection budgets in the libraries; establish the extent to which the libraries meet the collection standards as prescribed by the Board of Affiliated Institutions of the University of Botswana and international library associations; find out the suitability of the collections of the college libraries to the needs of the library community; determine the factors militating against collection development in the libraries and suggest possible solutions to the problems identified.
