Community Mental Health Centers in the United States are moving from medical models of treatment to recovery-oriented models for people with psychiatric disorders. In this investigation, action research methodology is applied using local and national tools to assess this process at Community House Mental Health Agency in King County, Washington. In 2006, the King County Mental Health Division requested that mental health providers complete a locally created standardized self-assessment tool of their recovery services. A national consumer self- report survey, Recovery-Oriented Systems Indicators Measure 2005, (ROSI), was used to gather additional data. Merging the categories of the ROSI with the categories of the self-assessment tool enabled the researcher to identify strengths and weaknesses in the services of Community House and provide recommendations to aid in its transition to a recovery model of treatment.
