This thesis explores Marxist imagery in American horror films and how American society reflects them. Often, the monsters in these films represent the average citizen''s contribution to the horror of society, and the heroes represent our quest to overcome them. Using The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as a template, and covering a wide spectrum of zombies, vampires, and the generally insane, this work explores in-depth the role of the viewer in both film and society.
