THE POLITICAL ROLE OF SERBIAN ACADEMICS AFTER THE FALL OF MILOSEVIC

It is widely believed that a part of the Serbian intellectual elite should be held responsible for the outbursts of nationalism in the 1980''s, justification of the Greater Serbian ideas in the 1990''s, and for hindering the europeisation of Serbia by reviving old hatreds and constructing the new ones. This paper concentrates on the role and impact of some of the most exposed intellectuals from the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and examines their political role in the post-Milosevic period.
