Literature is seen as a medium in which students' appreciation of different system language organisation can be developed. teaching and learning literature on the whole, is not a reaction but rather an interaction between the teacher and the learner. the objective of this book is to bring out a general overview on the implementation of literature in Secondary Schools in Zambia especially Itezhi tezhi district in Central province. The descriptive design was the one that was used in the study. A sample of 98 pupils and 12 teachers responded to the questionnaire and were purposefully selected for this study. The researcher used the Likert scale type of questionnaire to examine the perceptions of teachers and pupils on the implementation of literature in Zambia. These instruments were face and content validated by the experts. A pilot study of 8 teachers and 18 pupils was conducted in order to establish the reliability of the instruments and a reliability coefficient of 0.874 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha. The study revealed that the implementation had challenges mainly due to lack of government funding in procurement of reading resources.
