The addition of synthetic fertilizers and some amendments can cause changes in the soil chemical properties. Changes in biogeochemical properties generate a loss of resources towards the environment and affect crop yields. A strategy that can be used for the purpose of improving biogeochemical properties and plant growth is the application of inorganic materials with high cation exchange capacity (CEC) and with selective ion absorption, such as aluminosilicate minerals. Some authors observed that the addition of IA to soils increased the efficiency of nitrogen and water use by plants. In soils where IA was applied, lower levels of electrical conductivity (EC) and improved plant growth were observed. The phosphorus release rate from phosphoric rock in mixtures with IA was directly proportional to vegetation growth. Inorganic amendments use in soils evidenced benefits for plant growth and soil nutrients improvement in different agricultural systems. The overall researches indicated that Soil amendment with aluminosilicates minerals improve biogeochemical balance and plant dry matter, especially in soils with lower cation exchange capacity.
