The wear mechanisms found were a combination of oxidation, where many differentoxides were found, adhesive wear, which was seen both in form of material transfer and flow lines. On top of Sample Mild and Hard there were tribe films of thickness varying from 1 to 5m consisting of Ca, O, P, S and Zn. The film has in all cases protected the underlying surface from wear but in some cases seems to have a corrosive impact instead. Intake and exhaust valves are very important engine components that are used tocontrol the flow and exchange of gases in internal combustion engines. They are used to seal the working space inside the cylinder against the manifolds. This seminar focuses on failure trend of inlet and exhaust valve. Failures take placeof inlet and exhaust valve in different manners due to fatigue, thermal loading, wear, corrosion and erosion which leads to loss of mechanical properties of material and engine performance etc.The Tesla turbine is a bladeless centripetal flow turbine patented by NikolaTesla in 1913. It is referred to as a bladeless turbine because it uses the boundary layereffect and not a fluid impinging upon the blades as in a conventional turbine.
