The book in hand entitled "Detection and Characterization of Cassava Mosaic Virus" has been written exclusively for students and researchers offering cassava mosaic virus (CMV) diversity, distribution and characterization. The major constraint for cassava production in India, Africa and Sri Lanka subcontinent is the CMV caused by viruses included in the genus begomovirus (family: Geminiviridae). Although cassava begomoviruses are naturally transmitted by the whitefly Bemisia tabaci, widely disseminated by the distribution of stem cuttings used for vegetative propagation. Furthermore, cassava is often infected with more than one begomovirus that can increase symptom severity (synergism) and encourage virus diversification as a consequence of recombination. Characterization of the CMV clearly indicated that the isolate of CMV infected the cassava plantation of West Bengal, India was the type of Sri Lankan Cassava Mosaic Virus.
