The protection of our most precious resources soil and water are given less attention than they deserve in many places. The existence of life on earth is impossible without soil and water. They need our conscious protection and conservation. The book is the result of the preparation of successful teaching materials over a period of time. My purpose in writing this book has been to present rudiments of soil and water conservation in a manner understandable to those most concerned with such knowledge and also students and development agents with an understanding into many ways in which man is dependent on the Earth for survival, and the consequent need to apply the principle of conservation management to it. The book is primarily intended as a reference materials for soil and water conservation courses offered to students in tertiary institutions and especially for National Diploma (ND) students in Polytechnics.Though written as text material for Soil and Water Conservation course in the National Diploma Agricultural and Bio Environmental Engineering Curriculum, the book is informative to field practioners and general reading.
