In this volume, the author commemorates the historical significance and achievements of the constitutional movements of the 19th century, and provides an overview of the most important European events of the century, illustrated with contemporary pictures and cartoons. The central theme of the study is an in-depth examination of the causal factors leading to the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and the subsequent uprisings. The methodology used is based on a chronological presentation of the historical background to the Revolution, in which the author examines the political and legal-historical context of continental Europe following the French Revolution. The research presents the events of the period under study through an analysis of primary sources, including foreign-language sources translated by the author. The protagonists of the main work are the German and Hungarian revolutionaries, intellectuals and politicians involved in the 19th-century uprisings, alternating scenes related to the Habsburgs' centralization plan and the threatened defence of the constitutional rights of the Hungarian people. Results illustrate the impact of revolutionary ideals and constitutional rights.
