The Constitution of the Field of Rural Development

This book is concerned with development interventions in rural Argentina. It tells the story of the Agriculture Social Programme (PSA), the first State sponsored programme to target small farmers in Argentina as a whole. The book''s central concern is to illuminate the complexity of intervention processes through a better understanding of how planned development programmes are not only transformed during their implementation but are also essentially constituted by the interface encounters between different actors. The empirical material that forms the basis of the book was gathered through an extended period covering five years involvement with the programme as well as an intensive year of fieldwork in Argentina.
