From the Baroque to the Classical

Johann Sebastian Bach''s contributions to the organ world are vast, yet the works of his successors are less familiar. This book focuses primarily on the organ repertoire during the Pre-Classical period, a time when musical form was changing, and the organ seemed to be all but forgotten. Three of Bach''s sons - Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel, and Johann Christian - as well as his best-known pupil, Johann Krebs - continued to write for the organ, and their efforts are discussed in this book.
